Hunter and Naomi: Marilyn Monroe

For your comments on Presentations:

First, write about something well done.  What did you learn from this group?  What part of the Presentation seemed the best?  Be specific, and use a specific example from the Presentation and your notes.

Second, offer constructive criticism that would help this group. What might have been more clear?  What part of the Presentation seemed the least polished?  Be specific.

  1. The presenters were passionate and knowledgeable about the topic, and were able to thoroughly answer any questions brought up. The only recommendation I can make is that more detail overall would help to better the presentation.

  2. I liked how you guys emphasized the importance of her career as a major part of her life. I would only add a few more facts on how she became a "sex" symbol or about her failed marriages.

  3. overall a good presentation, it would be best to not assume that the audience knows about your topic before the presentation begins. i can personally say the only thing i knew about her was her name. however the organization of the presentation flowed well.

  4. You seamed knowledgeable about the topic and you didn't read off the slides, which I liked. The presentation was a little short and the information all though solid there just wasn't a lot of it.

  5. I liked the way you guys went against the "sex symbol" portrayal of her and made sure everyone knew that she was something beyond that, and that she had overcome hardships in her life. One thing I would say would be that you could've gone more in depth to her works so the presentation was longer.

  6. Very nice presentation, it had good content and was given well. The presenters had good eye contact and spoke loud enough to hear. A recommendation would be to give a little more information on her career and possibly what led to her suicide.

  7. Pointing out aspects of Marilyn Monroe that most of us probably didn't know: a very smart and powerful person that was very strong with a psychotic mother.

Room for Improvement: I heard one thing (not during the Q&A) during the presentation where one of the presenters said "I wasn't sure/I don't know" about something they were mentioning. Probably not the best thing to mention during a presentation as it erodes credibility.

  8. The presenters did a good job of giving out the information about Marilyn Monroe. I liked how you explained the legacy she left when she died. The only thing that i would recommend would be what drove her passion.

  9. I liked how the background of Marilyn was given, it gave the audience more of a connection to her. One thing that could have been added would be her impact on culture from her work and scandals.

  10. I liked your guys' approach on this subject. You presented Marilyn Monroe in a way I don't think I've ever seen her portrayed before. Good interaction with the audience. I also liked your pros and cons section. Good equal distribution of info shared between the two of you.
criticism : I felt like all your info presented was very solid, but you only touched on certain aspects of her life and so we did not get a feel for who she actually was on all levels ie your presentation ran a tad short.

  11. The presentation was rich in information and you explained main points very well. The presentation seemed a tad brief however, and there was a quote you included which was not explained until after the presentation.

  12. I really liked how you used quotes throughout the presentation, and that the slides were not too bogged down with words. Just take your time, you sped through it a bit.

  13. This was overall a good presentation with a lot of information, but I would change the length of it and make it longer. I also would've liked to know more about her career and what made her so passionate about it that it made her choose her career over marriages.

  14. Presentation went well it seemed like you guys came well prepared and knew your information coming into today. One thing i would recommend is giving information of what caused her depression to become so bad that she committed suicide

  15. You guys did well in your presentation of facts -- interrelating them to concepts within your presentation.

Possibly, you could have touched on her temperament and character to allow us to understand who she was and not only just what she stands for.

  16. i enjoyed seeing this presentation. its crazy that some celebrities get so affected by their work that the stress gets to them. One thing would just be to add more info, might help your presentation be longer.

  17. I liked the emphasis put into the presentation. I would have liked more information about her private life; perhaps her husbands' occupations and maybe why they couldn't follow her lifestyle.

  18. I really liked this presentation. I think you're intent was very clear and I could tell you felt strongly about your topic. It was interesting to learn about different aspects of her life that are not commonly known and you did a great job portraying her as more than just a sex symbol. My only advice is to speak with more confidence, you seemed a bit uncertain and quiet at times even though I could tell you knew a lot about this topic. You guys rocked it.

  19. this presentation was a little short and I feel like you could have talked a lot more about her career but it was definitely fun to listen to

  20. It was a interesting presentation, I liked how they explained how she was viewed as a dumb blond in her roles and how she was different from what she portrayed. I didn't know she was a factory worker before being a model which is interesting. My only criticism would be not giving the official diagnosis for her mother and referring to her as "crazy" serval times. Mental Health has a negative stigma and referring to her as "crazy" can come off as offensive.
